The Gyroid Bust is a haniwa, resembling the ones found in Animal Crossing and its sequels, Animal Crossing: Wild World , Animal Crossing: City Folk and Animal Crossing: New Leaf. In the Animal Crossing games, the items are called 'Gyroids'. These items sit next to the players house, and possess a cap that makes them resemble a fire hydrant. The treasure in Pikmin 2 is found on the last (7th) sublevel of the Bulblax Kingdom, and can be acquired right after the Emperor Bulblax is defeated, as well as the Forged Courage, which unlocks the Scorch Guard for the Exploration Kit.
"My son tells me that this type of figurine is all the rage with the kids. The strangest things amuse kids! When I was a kid, we were lucky if we were allowed to even talk about figurines! PS: When I found this figurine, it had been placed so that it was protected by a wall of flame. My research isn't complete, but I think it may have been a shrine of some kind."
"This looks exactly like the gyroids that have become so popular on planet Hocotate. Its pitiful expression is beloved by the Hocotate youth."
- The Gyroid Bust is a haniwa, which are often buried with the dead or set on a mound near the grave. The fact that it is buried deep within the Bulbax Kingdom suggests that this cave was a tomb.
