Pikmin 2 8 Day RunEdit

This run is comprised of collecting all 201 treasures within the

game in only 8 days, spending 3 days in the Valley of Repose, 2 in the Awakening Wood and Perplexing Pool, and 1 in the Wistful Wild. Since days one and two are "scripted," and collecting 10,000 Pokos ends the day of completion, you only have 5-6 possible full days to collect everything. It's not recommended that you attempt this run unless you've beaten the game and generally know where everything is. Also, because the Doomsday Apparatus requires 100 Purple Pikmin to carry, you have to make use of every cave's Violet Candypop Buds to ensure that you can retrieve this item.

TacticsEdit

For the majority of the game, you should have the camera at its most zoomed out by pressing R and then Z (Right and Up on the D-pad on New Play Control!) to allow for more efficient gameplay.

Be smart in the way you kill enemies. When in caves, use you're Purple Pikmin against enemies that don't have electrical attacks. Try to find enemies that you don't even need to kill at all.

While in caves, remember that you can reset if a Pikmin or Captain dies as the game saves after every sublevel. It is also not necessary to collect every Pikmin before you continue to the next sublevel or exit the cave; they will follow you as long as they're not planted in the ground. This negates all elemental effects, also.

Copy your save file after each day. You don't want to mess up and accidentally save over your so far perfect run and not have anyway of restoring it.

Days 1 and 2Edit

Both of these days take place in the Valley of Repose. As I said before, the first two days of the game are "scripted" in that you must complete tasks in a certain way. If you're not going for the fastest time, you can let the Red Pikmin you make while playing as Louie flower to increase their efficiency.

During day 2, you can actually exit the Emergence Cave early, collect a few more pellets that respawn, and get more Purple Pikmin from the Violet Candypop buds. You can do this until sunset where you have to return to and complete the cave and end the day.

Day 3Edit

This day compises of doing everything in the Awakening Wood possible without using Yellow or Blue Pikmin. Quickly break down the first wall next to the burgeoning spiderworts while collecting 10 red berries to get a single Ultra-Spicy spray. After collecting your Pikmin, avoid the Cloaking Burrow-nit and the Creeping Chrysanthemum and enter the Hole of Beasts, collecting a possible 15 Purple Pikmin. After you emerge collect the Sunseed Berry (Strawberry) directly in front of the landing site. Afterwards take 5 Red Pikmin back into the Hole of Beasts and collect 5 more Purples (the Candypop buds on sublevel 2 disappear after 20 Purple Pikmin are obtained) and exit the cave. Using your now larger force of Purples, compress the paper bag close to the Hole of Beasts and enter the White Flower Garden, returning with 15 Reds to have a total of 30 White Pikmin.
