The Red Onion is an Onion from which Red Pikmin can be produced. It is the first Onion to be discovered in all four mainline games of the Pikmin series.

In Pikmin, the Red Onion is found at The Impact Site, dormant in the ground not far from where the S.S. Dolphin crashed. Once awakened, it will release a single Red Pikmin seed which Olimar can use to harvest nearby red Pellet Posies and spawn enough Pikmin to retrieve the Main Engine.
Pikmin 2[]
In Pikmin 2, Louie finds this Onion in the Valley of Repose when he falls out of The Ship's cockpit and gets lost.
Pikmin 3[]
In Pikmin 3, the Red Onion is discovered when Alph comes upon it caught in a branch at Tropical Wilds.
Pikmin 4[]
In Pikmin 4, the Red Onion can be found buried in Rescue Command Post and is confused with treasure until Oatchi brings it to the S.S. Beagle, it which it shakes away from Oatchi and moves to its spot on its own before flying up, sprouting its legs, and producing a single Red Pikmin.
