Electricity is a recurring hazard in the Pikmin series. It first appears in Pikmin 2 and appears in every other Pikmin game thereafter. Yellow Pikmin are the only type of Pikmin to not be affected by electricity, as every other type gets electrocuted from touching it. If a leader touches electricity, they get damaged.

Appearances[]

Pikmin 2[]

In Pikmin 2, electricity kills any Pikmin on contact instantly, except for Yellow Pikmin. Since electricity kills Pikmin so quickly, it is one of the only hazards that Pikmin cannot be saved from. Electricity is most commonly produced from the hazards, electric gates and electrical wires. Electricity emits from electric gates continuously, so only Yellow Pikmin can destroy them. Electrical wires can be destroyed by any type of Pikmin, since the electricity only generates every few seconds, but only Yellow Pikmin can destroy it without being at risk of dying. Electricity is also commonly produced by Anode Beetles, and one of the Titan Dweevil's attacks involves firing electrical blasts.

Olimar and Louie normally take damage from electricity, but can become invulnerable to it once they collect the Dream Material treasure, which the Research Pod converts into a usable item, the Anti-Electrifier. Even so, Titan Dweevil's electrical blasts can still knock down a leader, but the Anti-Electrifier still protects them from taking damage.

Pikmin 3[]

In Pikmin 3, electricity is non-lethal, and it instead stuns Pikmin who touch it, leaving them to lie on the ground, immobilized, until a leader whistles at them to return.

Pikmin 4[]

Pikmin 4 combines the role of electricity from Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 3, as it stuns Pikmin for a few seconds before killing them.
